Jill Hope has just thanked the 11,894 people who voted for her at the general election yesterday. The result is up from the previous election and is the highest vote enjoyed by the Liberal Democrats since 1987.

Jill said, "We really have moved forward and turned this area into a 3 way marginal, I can not wait for the fight next time."

"This is a vote of confidence in the Liberal Democrats, so many people have said to me - we like what we have seen you Lib Dems do on the council and want to see a real person representing Milton Keynes North.

Across Milton Keynes there were also council elections which are getting counted later today.
