New food and garden waste service for the villages9.54.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 23rd Jun 2009 A new service from the Liberal Democrat run MK Council will see the first deliveries of food and garden waste wheeled bins to our villages in August, with the first collections starting in September. The bins will be delivered over a four week period. By the end of this summer, all suitable properties will have received a 140 litre outdoor wheeled bin (unless they already have one) and a small silver kitchen caddy to enable residents to recycle all their food and garden waste. Once the scheme is up and running, all waste and recycling will be collected on the same day, every week. Most flats and apartments will receive a 20 litre container along with the kitchen caddy so that they can recycle their food waste. "We are delighted that our Liberal Democrat Council has come up again with an excellent environmental scheme to reduce the amount of landfill tax that we have to pay. New waste contractor Serco will collect weekly with the recycling and black sack waste" said local Councillor, Sam Potts. • For more details on the service see - www.milton-keynes.gov.uk/recycling.
