Crime In The Villages12.01.00am GMT Fri 1st Feb 2008 In the last two years crime in the villages has been going up: Distraction Burglaries, Burglaries, Armed Robbery, Violent Assaults, Lead stolen from church roofs, yet the number of police in the villages seems to remain the same. Local Liberal Democrat Councillor Sam Potts is putting pressure on the police to provide more police in the villages on the beat. Sam Potts said, "Local people are seeing more crime and are paying more tax for the police yet are seeing nothing in return." A spokesman for the force speaking to the MK News said: "We continuously assess where we deploy our officers and how many resources we dedicate to each area. This assessment includes looking at the numbers and types of crimes occurring and the needs of communities, as well as our resilience to deal with incidents. We are currently in the process of recruiting PCSOs who will be responsible for dealing with low level crime and anti social behavior, as well as being highly visible." Sam Potts is conducting a survey on crime and will keep up the pressure to get more police on the beat. The money is there - all the Labour government needs to do is to stop wasting millions on their pointless ID cards scheme. Only the Lib Dems are committed to this. The Conservatives only idea seems to be "hug a hoodie".
