Sam visits the ExtraCare Village with Cllr. Irene Henderson

Two superb new residential facilities for older people opened their doors in July. The popular ExtraCare retirement village at Willen Park welcomed its first residents. The village offers people over 55, regardless of income or ability/disability, the opportunity for an active social life. Interest in the village has been so great that Liberal Democrat MK Council is now planning a second one.

Castlemead Court in Newport Pagnell also opened in July. A state of the art care home, it replaces The Green. This is the third such brand new home built to replace outdated buildings since the Lib Dems took over MK Council.

Supporting our older residents to remain independent - and providing them with choices - is a priority for the Lib Dem Council. As well as new residential facilities, home care, the community alarm system, disabled adaptations to homes, free bus travel and the "Plus Bus" all help people remain independent and safe.
