Responding to news that the four remaining British citizens are due to return to the UK from Guantanamo Bay, Sam Potts said:

"I welcome the news that the remaining British citizens held in Guantanamo Bay will return home. I still have a serious issues with there lack of legal representation and the alleged torture and mistreatment that went on there. The Labour Government were partly responsible for this and there should be an independent open inquiry that deals with the all these issues.

"But though there is good news for them, the fight is not over. A number of British residents continue to be held in Guantanamo Bay. The Government say they cannot make representation for these individuals despite the fact that their lives, homes and families are in the UK.

"I along with Liberal Democrats will fight for the Government to accept their moral duty to use there special relationship with George W Bush's Government to release the others in this position.
