What Geoff Hoon can do is make sure that every British solider has the armour and protection they need

Sam Potts, commenting on the case of Sergeant Steven Roberts, who was the first British serviceman to be killed in the conflict in Iraq, said:

"The case of Sergeant Roberts is terrible. But his lack of adequate kit was not an isolated incident. All soldiers should have appropriate protection.

"We should remember that this was not a war we were forced to fight, it was a war of choice. The Government should not have sent British troops into battle until they were prepared."

"No politician will be able to bring him back, but what Geoff Hoon can do is make sure that every British solider has the armour and protection they need. To make sure that no more British troops lose their lives when they can be saved.
